This is a blog tracking my workout and exercise goals. I hope to compete in the Transplant Games 2012 along with a few smaller races as well. For now I work out to keep my lungs, my gift of life healthy!Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.comBlogger196125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-26652423064613140482014-05-14T09:48:00.001-07:002014-05-14T09:48:14.343-07:00P90X LeanI know I have totally neglected this page. . .BUT I want to update it :)
Day 8 of P90X Lean: \

I started P90X Lean a week ago. I had pulmonary testing done and it seems as though my lazy winter took its toll....so i am whipping it into gear. I will try to post a few pics but my schedule is a little crazy so no promises. I am feeling great though and I'm hoping my lung funtions improve with a little push. :OJamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-80934034852216827872013-11-26T22:44:00.000-08:002013-11-26T22:45:59.509-08:00I'm a slacker!!!This summer was rough...I started full time nail tech school. That was time consuming but freaking amazing and fun! After school I got shingles (horrible). Then focused time on preparing to start my business while also working very long hours running our families spook alley. Just when I thought I would have time to focus on exercise....I sprained my ankle badly and I'm in my 4th week of six wearing a walking cast. but once this cast is off.....I'm back at it. P90x second round. I found some great weights to use that go from 2.5lbs-15lbs in a matter of seconds! Woohoo!!! My parents have a treadmill across the street so I'll utilize that as well...with my iPod set on lady gaga, I'll be on my way to muscle tone, healthy lungs and a sexy body :)

Happy holidays everyone!!! Stay healthy! Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-16064383689602858042013-05-13T10:39:00.001-07:002013-05-13T10:39:49.765-07:00Next SaturdayWell. . .it's almost time. My 5K is Saturday the 18th, I can't believe how quickly it has snuck up on me. I have been training a little but not as aggressive as I did for my 1st one. I will just do my best and see how it goes. I'm sure I'll jog a little and walk a little until I cross the finish line. The main thing is that I finish. It's been a crazy last few months. I started working part time to earn money to pay for my summer college course and the weather here has been cold up until just a week or so ago. I've been running a couple days a week and I have been building leg strength doing leg presses. My legs are REALLY out of shape from this winter. . .it's frustrating.

I start class a week from today. This is also my last week at my job since I figured full time school would be as much as I dare take on at once.

So I guess I'll post my 5K results. . .hopefully I can finish under 45 minutes. lolJamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-85203985342685645302013-03-28T18:15:00.002-07:002013-03-28T18:15:47.310-07:00I am runnin'My 5k is quickly approaching....and I'm trying to get my legs & body in shape. I'm running both on the treadmill and today it was finally warm enough for my first 'road run' I did a little over a mile and it KICKED MY A**. No really, I felt the burn in my butt, calves and knees. My lungs are also needing whipped into shape...my heart rate gets high when I'm running, but that means I'm burning calories :)

I've gained an unusual amount of weight in a short period of time. I'm weighing in at close to 115 lbs which is about a gain of close to 10 lbs in the last 3 months. I like the weight but it needs to be firmed and toned, lol. I'll keep posting my progression as I work towards the 5K.Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-42012744665757710212013-03-18T23:12:00.001-07:002013-03-18T23:12:38.776-07:00Another 5k!!I needed some motivation to get exercising regularly again so I registered for another 5k. May 18th is the BIG DAY so that gives me 2 months to whip my body and lungs into shape. My only goal for this race is to beat my last 5k time, which I will have to look up. lol I started running/training last week and so far so good. I'm running 3 times a week and started plyometrics a couple times a week to help build strength in my legs and butt. I'm really looking forward to completing another race, I'm no "athlete" but I do my best and that's always good enough :)Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-16840515536603107742012-11-19T17:24:00.001-08:002012-11-19T17:24:32.921-08:00I recently went to Pittsburgh for my annual post transplant clinic and my LUNGS look fantabulous! My FVC was 113% and my fev1 was 94% can't ask for better results to celebrate my 5 yr ttransplant anniversary :)

My weight is good and a little higher. I weighed in at 109 lbs which is good considering I'm only 5'0". It also got me thinking. . .I love my weight but I would love it even more if it was more muscle and less squishy. I admit I have been REALLY slacking on my workouts so I decided to find my motivation.

Day ONE (again) of P90X
Chest and Back
AB Ripper X

I already feel the pain and I finished the workout less than an hour ago. Here's to 89 more days of dedication and extreme pain :) Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-88196998577610145592012-09-21T23:21:00.002-07:002012-09-21T23:21:27.578-07:00It's been a while. . .I have totally neglected this blog. . . I haven't been completely neglecting exercise, well not COMPLETELY haha.

I have been crazy busy with moving. I was planning on running the 5K to cure diabetes in Oklahoma, but we moved to Idaho before that so I guess I'll have to find another 5K to do in the spring. :) I am excited about being home for a couple reasons. I have been riding my horse a lot and I LOVE that! Also the locally owned gym here is just $10 a month and they offer a freaking amazing class called Targit I have mentioned it before and I'm excited to be able to go to class. I am also hoping to be fit in some lap swimming at our small city pool. . .I used to teach swim lessons at this pool back when I was like 18-19yrs old. haha!

I am going to really try to keep up on this blog and my workouts! I have enjoyed almost 5 years with my new lungs and staying active & working out plays a big role in keeping them healthy for another 5x5x5 years :)Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-77951344478605227172012-04-18T23:04:00.000-07:002012-04-18T23:04:00.665-07:00Y. . .because it feels so good!Today I got home from work and instead of watching TV or getting on the internet (FB) I put on my Nike Free runs, my Nike workout shirt and some shorts and hit the YMCA! The pool was crazy busy so I passed up that today and opted for a treadmill workout. 20+ minutes then I did strength training and concentrated on my shoulders, back, triceps and biceps!! Yeah, I might be really sore tomorrow. ..and that's how I like it!

I am in the process of making a really cute weekly workout board. I am wanting to buy some great motivational workout posters for my workout room so I can really stay motivated! I have my pole in my room for my pole fitness and I did a big vinyl mural to decorate it up a little. ..whatcha think?

I'm going to decorate in zebra print, black and magenta pink! It's going to be so cute once I get it all done. A litle at a time :) I gotta get my resistance bands and dumbells set up too and eventually a flat panel tv to use for P90X and stuff while I work out! WHOOHOO!Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-32678237110743895602012-04-06T21:07:00.000-07:002012-04-06T21:07:02.902-07:00I've been working out. .just not blogging about itI joined the YMCA! I pretty much joined for the opportunity to utilize their lap swimming :) I am really out of shape when it comes to swimming. The first day I went I could only do about 3 laps (300 meters). The second time I went I had my own lane and could swim at MY pace with a few more breaks in between lengths. . .so I did about 6 laps (600 meters), I will slowly build up to where I want to be.

I also enjoy their indoor track! I ran/walked on it the other day and did about 1/2 mile but that was because It was the same day I had swam so I didn't want to overdue it. So despite me completely forgetting to blog about my latest workouts I am doing it AND enjoying it!!Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-73439701400848949312012-03-07T20:04:00.000-08:002012-03-07T20:04:00.590-08:00Getting started again. .I feel like I repeat "getting started" a lot. haha, but the key is I don't stop and then just 'give up'. Even if I have to start over with my workout goals every couple of months that just means I don't get frustrated and say "to H3LL with it" LOL

Sometimes I feel discouraged and sure I'm not perfect at my working out. . but what I do is better than doing nothing. HOWEVER, that being said, It's starting to get REALLY nice here and just the other day I did an hour pole workout along with a nice walk/run around my new neighborhood :) I stopped in at the YMCA to look into a membership. They have a pool and LOTS of workout machines, free weights, an indoor track and many different classes. The monthly dues are a little steep but since it has the pool and the indoor track AND weights then I'm tempted.

HERE"S TO "starting again"Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-13143442023996374762012-02-17T09:52:00.000-08:002012-02-17T09:52:45.171-08:00I gotta get training!I have taken some time off and it shows. haha. I weigh the most I EVER have my entire life. . .I look good, but I need to get motivated. I'm planning on competing at the 2012 transplant games in Grand Rapids, MI at the end of July. . .that doesn't give me a whole lotta time to get into tip top shape. The next couple weeks are going to be crazy since my husband and I are moving into a rental house and out of our apartment (YAAAAY) So it's going to be tough to fit in a workout. . .however, starting Monday I'm going to work harder. Even if that's just walking on the treadmill or doing a modified P90X workout. I'm going to do something!!!

If you want to learn about the 2012 Transplant Games and donate to help me go check out my jamiebug blog.Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-75831747050525053822012-01-27T20:07:00.000-08:002012-01-27T20:07:48.701-08:00Bryan worked out with me :)Today I didn't have to work out alone :) Bryan went to the gym with me and we did 30 minutes on the treadmill. I also did a mile on the elliptical and then finished my 30 minutes on the treadmill. I could really get used to this! I am hoping Bryan will continue to work out with me, it's so much more fun when I have a work out buddy!!Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-75583278007264636382012-01-06T13:46:00.000-08:002012-01-06T13:46:40.889-08:00I was Runnin'Well, it's been a big break for me. . .I have been struggling a little cuz of a nasty head cold that moved into my lungs a little. I wanted to make sure my body was up to being pushed again. Today I felt motivated and headed to the gym to hit the treadmill. I ran about 5 minutes and my lungs felt great!! No shortness of breath at all, however my calves HURT like crazy~ Especially my right leg. So I walked at a comfortable pace for about 30 total. It will be a slow process of getting my muscles used to running again. I am also hoping to incorporate some quality lap swimming where I can focus on improving my strokes as well as building stamina. I just have to wait until I can afford a pass at the OU fitness/aquatic center. It's like $70 but for $20 more I can get a family pass and then Bryan can go with me. Eventually I want to pick up a nice road/speed bike, but for now running will be enough.

I REALLY want a new pair of Vibrams though!!! They have a new style out that is similair to the Bakiilla but it laces up & they fit me REALLY nicely. They have them in a super cute lilac purple! I ran in my Nike's today and I think that's one reason my legs hurt so bad. My Treksports are good, but the new ones are specifically designed for comfort while running. My Treksports rub on my heal unless I tape my heal, so that kinda stinks!

Anyways, hopefully I won't have any more set backs and I can really start of 2012 focusing on getting into top shape.Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-21547330902016710732011-12-02T21:24:00.000-08:002011-12-02T21:24:45.598-08:00Still kinda junky :(Catching that cold really kicked my butt. I have been a little junky and my chest is a little tight. I have mostly been resting so my body can fight off what is left from the cold. My lung functions are down a little which isn't a good thing. . .I think it's just the tail end of my congestion. I don't like taking 'long breaks' but with my suppressed immune system I think my body can use any extra energy to fight off stuff like this, so I rest.

I'll post hopefully soon when I get back up and jump back into P90X. I am starting on a new antibiotic soon which should help clear out any infection. I'll be back to my routine in no time :)Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-32190684199335753272011-11-25T15:47:00.000-08:002011-11-25T15:47:33.495-08:00Got a cold!So apparently I have caught a cold. I'm not surprised though, the weather here is just getting cold. It goes warm then cold then warm then cold. So it's inevitable. I am going to give my body a few days to fight this cold before I continue p90x. Check first of next week. Hopefully I feel better by then! I'm on inhaled antibiotics to keep it from getting worse.Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-69362388830017045922011-11-21T18:36:00.001-08:002011-11-21T18:36:38.141-08:00Day 3: Back & ChestPush ups and more push ups! My arms feel like jello already. . .that's a good sign. I also did Ab Ripper X which honestly I barely suffered through. My abs are Waaaaay out of shape, but that's about to change ;) This is the beginning of starting over, it's always the hardest. . I can get through it and before I know it It will be easier but still extremely hard!Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-69229987671549006872011-11-19T17:22:00.001-08:002011-11-19T17:30:36.306-08:00Day 2: Switched to X-StretchI am so absolutely sore especially in my upper thighs and BUTT! So today rather than painfully do Kenpo, I decided perhaps I should painfully do stretch :) It hurt so good. I realized how much flexibility I lost in just 6 months. Most of stretch used to be a breeze for me, but now I'm finding it very challenging~ I am hoping my flexibility will return quickly or I'm going to be a sore girl for a while.Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-41569185776359575692011-11-18T14:03:00.000-08:002011-11-21T18:33:07.542-08:00Today. . .Day ONE!P90X Day One. . Make a decision. Get off my butt. Get back into a routine. SO I am going to! Starting Monday I will start back up on the P90X program. So although I am sorta having to start over and I have taken a bit of a break since my 5K I am ending the lack of working out. It stops now and progress starts Monday.

I'll post my Day One pictures and will keep it updated like I did before. So check in periodically and follow my progress. . .again :)
What's your goal? What is your motivation?Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-13162133962298781402011-10-01T16:50:00.000-07:002011-10-01T16:50:21.540-07:00Ugh. . .I feel super lazy!I just realized I have not posted in since my 5K. . and sadly that reason is because I haven't done much exercising since then. I have no excuses. I'm working on setting another goal to work towards, just haven't nailed anything down :) As soon as I do I will post it. lol

Any suggestions are welcome!Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-24493849607804330362011-09-17T09:41:00.000-07:002011-09-17T21:31:00.262-07:005K COMPLETED!Well, its officially conquered :) I don't have my official time but it was under 42 minutes (I think). They will post our times on the website some time today or tomorrow? Bryan was able to get some time off work so he was there at the finish line & took some pics, I can't post them yet cuz they are on his phone. But I will as soon as he gets home!
So I beat the goal I set. . .I stayed to hear the 'winning times' and if I can shave off about 20 minutes I would have a chance at placing. haha! I'll get right on that for my next 5K!

It was tough, I walked a little. . .but ran more than I walked. I figure I averaged about a 13.5 minute mile. Not terrible for my first race. I didn't come in last that's for sure :) My calves did great & I ran in my Vibrams (barefoot running) however my hips were cramping close to the finish line, but I pushed through it and ran about as fast I could across the football field and finished strong. . .then limped away with pride. haha!

*My chipped time was 40:58!! I ended up with a pace of 13.10 minute miles. I am happy with those results, but now I have a time to beat next time :)Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-21392296091231824152011-09-16T21:47:00.000-07:002011-09-16T21:47:23.333-07:00The Day Has Came!!!Just a few hours and I will be up and preparing for my 5K! I can't believe it's here already. I am not 100% sure I am ready. . .but I am going to finish, I will cross the finish line at whatever time it takes me. If I have to walk to get through some of it, I will. I am not racing anyone but myself. I am just a host for my Donor's Lungs to do something great & perhaps do something my Donor never had the chance to do. I am running in honor of her, her family, my family for being such a solid support in my life, my husband who is always by my side and for myself. I know I can accomplish anything I set my mind to & with my Donor's lungs I will continue to do great things for many, many more years!

5K time goal is to complete it in less than 45 minutes. . .lets see how close I get to beating that :) Whoohoo! Jamiebug is going to kick some butt!!! (I'm being my own cheer leading squad). Hahaha.Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-51609861898472395282011-09-15T20:47:00.000-07:002011-09-15T20:47:44.186-07:003 miles on the ellipticalToday I went down to run on the treadmill and BOTH treadmills at our workout center are broken!!!! I put in a call to our property management because that's unacceptable. Anyways, I had to get my workout on the elliptical and I did 3 miles in 27 minutes. . .not sure if that is good or how it compares to running. I can't tell if its easier or harder than running. My thighs and butt work a little harder for sure, but I think I can keep a lot faster pace on the elliptical than on the treadmill. I was booking it at around 7-8 mph. . .I am sure I can't run that fast ;) But I got a good workout either way. My 5K is just one day away!!!! I am getting nervous & excited. I am just hoping I don't have to walk most of it. hahaha!Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-49871766516003972752011-09-15T11:35:00.000-07:002011-09-15T11:35:38.324-07:0010 days in Idaho!I spent the last 10 days in Idaho. I must admit it was hard to fit in runs. In fact I only ran like once. . .but I did stay active and do other things for exercise. I am hoping that time off won't hurt me too bad come this Saturday!! One thing about my 5K this Saturday, it's my first one ever. . .and I am only racing myself. This one will give me a time to try to beat on my next one. I am sure I won't be the fasted, but I'll finish. . . Hopefully I will raise some Organ Donation Awareness and honor my Donor :) I will definitely post pics from the race!!Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441607941084566339.post-52263420983945713552011-09-02T15:45:00.000-07:002011-09-02T15:45:25.119-07:00One step at a timeI'm getting there. . .one step at a time :) Today my run was pretty smooth. It was a nice even 4-5 minutes of running and about a 1 minute walk. I finished that at 30 minutes and did a 5 minute cool down. Before I left the gym I thought I would throw a little weight in my workout and did 3 sets of 12 reps on the leg press to give my thighs and and butt a bit more of a workout. My calves are looking great but my thighs and butt need to catch up :)

I need to increase my speed a little I'm just getting a little over 2 miles after 30 minutes! I am short so a comfortable pace is between 4.5 -5..5 mph. . .If I do 5.5 I get tired a lot faster. I get a better more consistent endurance at 4.5 but that makes for a slow mile! I need to get running without resting with walking then I guess push my speed a little. I want to progress faster than I physically can I think. No pushing myself to the point of injury though~

5K is 15 days away. . .praying I get more improvement!!!!Jamiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443223033562968398noreply@blogger.com0
