P90X Half Way There!!!

Still kinda junky :(

Catching that cold really kicked my butt. I have been a little junky and my chest is a little tight. I have mostly been resting so my body can fight off what is left from the cold. My lung functions are down a little which isn't a good thing. . .I think it's just the tail end of my congestion. I don't like taking 'long breaks' but with my suppressed immune system I think my body can use any extra energy to fight off stuff like this, so I rest.

I'll post hopefully soon when I get back up and jump back into P90X. I am starting on a new antibiotic soon which should help clear out any infection. I'll be back to my routine in no time :)

Got a cold!

So apparently I have caught a cold. I'm not surprised though, the weather here is just getting cold. It goes warm then cold then warm then cold. So it's inevitable. I am going to give my body a few days to fight this cold before I continue p90x. Check first of next week. Hopefully I feel better by then! I'm on inhaled antibiotics to keep it from getting worse.

Day 3: Back & Chest

Push ups and more push ups! My arms feel like jello already. . .that's a good sign. I also did Ab Ripper X which honestly I barely suffered through. My abs are Waaaaay out of shape, but that's about to change ;) This is the beginning of starting over, it's always the hardest. . I can get through it and before I know it It will be easier but still extremely hard!

Day 2: Switched to X-Stretch

I am so absolutely sore especially in my upper thighs and BUTT! So today rather than painfully do Kenpo, I decided perhaps I should painfully do stretch :) It hurt so good. I realized how much flexibility I lost in just 6 months. Most of stretch used to be a breeze for me, but now I'm finding it very challenging~ I am hoping my flexibility will return quickly or I'm going to be a sore girl for a while.

Today. . .Day ONE!

P90X Day One. . Again. Picture of my Day one will be posted by tomorrow.

I am Really sore from day one! My butt hurts so much that I can barely walk. . I expected that though :) Pics will be posted as soon as I can get Bryan to take some of me.

Starting MONDAY Oct. 24th

I have to set a goal. Make a decision. Get off my butt. Get back into a routine. SO I am going to! Starting Monday I will start back up on the P90X program. So although I am sorta having to start over and I have taken a bit of a break since my 5K I am ending the lack of working out. It stops now and progress starts Monday.

I'll post my Day One pictures and will keep it updated like I did before. So check in periodically and follow my progress. . .again :)

What's your goal? What is your motivation?

Saturday, October 1, 2011

Ugh. . .I feel super lazy!

I just realized I have not posted in since my 5K. . and sadly that reason is because I haven't done much exercising since then. I have no excuses. I'm working on setting another goal to work towards, just haven't nailed anything down :) As soon as I do I will post it. lol

Any suggestions are welcome!

5K COMPLETED!

Well, its officially conquered :) I don't have my official time but it was under 42 minutes (I think). They will post our times on the website some time today or tomorrow? Bryan was able to get some time off work so he was there at the finish line & took some pics, I can't post them yet cuz they are on his phone. But I will as soon as he gets home!

So I beat the goal I set. . .I stayed to hear the 'winning times' and if I can shave off about 20 minutes I would have a chance at placing. haha! I'll get right on that for my next 5K!

It was tough, I walked a little. . .but ran more than I walked. I figure I averaged about a 13.5 minute mile. Not terrible for my first race. I didn't come in last that's for sure :) My calves did great & I ran in my Vibrams (barefoot running) however my hips were cramping close to the finish line, but I pushed through it and ran about as fast I could across the football field and finished strong. . .then limped away with pride. haha!

*My chipped time was 40:58!! I ended up with a pace of 13.10 minute miles. I am happy with those results, but now I have a time to beat next time :)

The Day Has Came!!!

Just a few hours and I will be up and preparing for my 5K! I can't believe it's here already. I am not 100% sure I am ready. . .but I am going to finish, I will cross the finish line at whatever time it takes me. If I have to walk to get through some of it, I will. I am not racing anyone but myself. I am just a host for my Donor's Lungs to do something great & perhaps do something my Donor never had the chance to do. I am running in honor of her, her family, my family for being such a solid support in my life, my husband who is always by my side and for myself. I know I can accomplish anything I set my mind to & with my Donor's lungs I will continue to do great things for many, many more years!

5K time goal is to complete it in less than 45 minutes. . .lets see how close I get to beating that :) Whoohoo! Jamiebug is going to kick some butt!!! (I'm being my own cheer leading squad). Hahaha.

3 miles on the elliptical

Today I went down to run on the treadmill and BOTH treadmills at our workout center are broken!!!! I put in a call to our property management because that's unacceptable. Anyways, I had to get my workout on the elliptical and I did 3 miles in 27 minutes. . .not sure if that is good or how it compares to running. I can't tell if its easier or harder than running. My thighs and butt work a little harder for sure, but I think I can keep a lot faster pace on the elliptical than on the treadmill. I was booking it at around 7-8 mph. . .I am sure I can't run that fast ;) But I got a good workout either way. My 5K is just one day away!!!! I am getting nervous & excited. I am just hoping I don't have to walk most of it. hahaha!

10 days in Idaho!

I spent the last 10 days in Idaho. I must admit it was hard to fit in runs. In fact I only ran like once. . .but I did stay active and do other things for exercise. I am hoping that time off won't hurt me too bad come this Saturday!! One thing about my 5K this Saturday, it's my first one ever. . .and I am only racing myself. This one will give me a time to try to beat on my next one. I am sure I won't be the fasted, but I'll finish. . . Hopefully I will raise some Organ Donation Awareness and honor my Donor :) I will definitely post pics from the race!!

One step at a time

I'm getting there. . .one step at a time :) Today my run was pretty smooth. It was a nice even 4-5 minutes of running and about a 1 minute walk. I finished that at 30 minutes and did a 5 minute cool down. Before I left the gym I thought I would throw a little weight in my workout and did 3 sets of 12 reps on the leg press to give my thighs and and butt a bit more of a workout. My calves are looking great but my thighs and butt need to catch up :)

I need to increase my speed a little I'm just getting a little over 2 miles after 30 minutes! I am short so a comfortable pace is between 4.5 -5..5 mph. . .If I do 5.5 I get tired a lot faster. I get a better more consistent endurance at 4.5 but that makes for a slow mile! I need to get running without resting with walking then I guess push my speed a little. I want to progress faster than I physically can I think. No pushing myself to the point of injury though~

5K is 15 days away. . .praying I get more improvement!!!!

foot rub?!

Today I put on my Vibrams and hit the treadmill. . .it was hard! My feet are sore. I am pretty sure I need a massage at least a foot rub ;) I am sure it's because I'm doing barefoot running, it really works the feet muscles and tendons. I'm feeling it. Once get running my feet either go numb or just loosen/warm up, I'm guessing they warm up and stretch out~ Hopefully I keep building up strength and endurance. I only have a little over 2 weeks now to be ready. Ahhhhhh!  That's getting close.

10 minute continuously!!

Yep, I dd it!! well, it's only a start but it's improvement :) Although my speed isn't anything to brag about, but 10 minutes of joggin without stopping is twice what I was doing~ I only have till the 16th to build up to 3.1 miles. . .It takes me about 30 minutes to do just over 2 miles, so I gotta speed that up a little!!!

Elliptical & Run!!!

Of course again today the treadmill was TAKEN! Grrrrrr. So I hopped on the elliptical for and did about a half mile then the treadmill opened up. Luckily I was the next in line to use it so I jumped on. My legs were a little weak so I didn't PUSH it. I bruised my right calf really bad a week or so ago, and it's still causing some tenderness along with a small bump under the skin. . .I am suspecting it's just hematoma where the broken blood vessel creates a dry blood under the skin and eventually absorbs back into the body. . .it can take some time to completely heal. :(

Elliptical?!

Yep, the treadmill was in use and the other one is and has been broken for weeks now.. .so my other option was to jump on the elliptical machine. I felt it in my thighs for sure. whoohoo~ Tomorrow I should be able to run since today felt more like a rest workout :P I think I might even have a running partner (maybe) she is a neighbor and she runs as well. Not marathon runs, but casual exercise running so it's perfect~

Improvement

I have noticed it's hard to post about my running every other day ;) Mainly cuz it's hard to not just want to "copy and paste" haha!

I ran Saturday and did a over 30 minutes on the treadmill. I ran 5 minute intervals with 1 minute in between although when I got to about 20 minutes I did 3-4 minutes intervals with a little more walking. I am still building up leg endurance. Although I was pretty sweaty and my heart rate was 150+ I am not even sure where my target heart rate should be. LOL I guess I should research that :)

Monday is a day to run for me. One good thing is my calves are getting much stronger & they are not very sore for much more than a day. Hence the 'every other day' running schedule. I remember running Mon-Fri when I ran with the track team in High School. . .I can't believe I did that! I did like 4 miles a day although not all at once. Man, I must have had sexy legs back then. hahaha!

ran till I want to puke

I pushed myself today even with my sore legs from my Monday run. I am feeling a little sick to my stomach now. . .i remember this feeling from when I ran track in high school. It's a good thing :) That means I pushed myself hard enough to see some progress hopefully soon. I guess I need to start a ticker/countdown till my 5K on the 17th.

Transplant Survivor Tank Top

I am happy to report that yesterday (Tuesday) my calves were fatigued but not NEARLY as sore as before! I am so relieved that perhaps progress is occuring in my leg muscle conditioning!! Today (Wednesday) I will be hitting the treadmill again and doing another 30 minutes. . .mostly running but a little walking to keep from cramping my legs too much :) 5K here I come!!! Oh and I ordered my tank top to wear. . .check it out! If you want one too just click HERE

30 minutes on treadmill

I worked the treadmill for 30 minutes and probably ran/jogged 1/2 the time. .on and off a little. I am having some calves pain mainly in my right leg which inhibits me from running as much as i would like. I am trying to take it slow and hope the muscle builds a little. I have a NASTY bruise with a bump in the center where I am assuming I hit my leg on something (I can't remember those kinds of things with Prograf Brain) and since I am on blood thinners I bruise really easily. I think that might be contributing a little to the tenderness.  But I did more tonight and I wasnt' short of breath, didn't get a red face and actually had enough energy to return to my apartment and clean and make dinner :) yeah, I'm feeling like superwoman right now!!!

Yesterday I registered for the 5K for Diabetes on the 17th of September. . .I am not going to expect awesome results considering it's relatively close so my training won't do me a TON of good. However, I am not out to win. . I am just out to do it, only competing against myself so it's a win, win situation ;)

Why I am running

I have been stretching and stretching and rubbing my calves. . .however, they are still pretty sore. The second day is always worse right? Tomorrow I will definately be hitting the treadmill and hopefully overcome my weak calves quickly by building strength back up :)

The first 5K that I am shooting for is located at OU campus and is for Diabetes. The second one is the following week also here in Norman for Big Brothers/Sisters program. . .then the 3rd run is for Outrun CF! Not for myself anymore cuz I don't have CF Lungs, but for all my CF friends who got their angel wings instead of new lungs and for those who are still fighting and hoping for a cure :)

I'll be running for these CF angels: Aaron Mackey, Perrin Campbel, Becky Campbell, Melissa Ferguson, Kristy Merrit, Charlton Palmer, Craig Hanson, Shelly Copp . . .and many more :)

My calves are screaming!!

Yesterday was my first run in a little while. . .I have been active, just not specifically "running". Needless to say my endurance wasn't too bad, but my calves are feeling it today. I can walk, which honestly more than I expected haha. I will give it a go again tomorrow and see how my legs do. I am hoping I can really jump up my running game and do the 5K ~

One Mile Run

So I buckled down and  put on my running shoes today. I found several 5K runs/races in my area in the next couple months and so I have decided to start doing some training to run at least one of them. I would like to run more than one. . .however, we'll see if I can build up to just one ;)

Lap Swimming

I put on my Nike Swimsuit and went down to the pool today. . .I don't like going cuz there is always pre-adult 20-somethings laying around the pool area perfecting their 'skin cancer' (aka: tans). The pool is just an accesory to give them a reason to gather and parade around in bikinis. Anyways, so I feel weird sometimes lap swimming cuz I am pretty sure I am the ONLY one that utilizes the purpose of having a body of water nearby. Haha~ However, I went down today. . .put on my swim goggles and swam till my body hurt (which sadly didn't take very long). I think I swam for about 20 or 30 minutes is all. I used to be able to swim laps for about an hour without much resting. If I want to ever compete in a sprint tri I definately have to work up my endourance.

I worked on my breast stroke, freestyle(front crawl), side stroke, and the butterfly which is the most difficult stroke. I am sure my legs are going to be sore and my shoulders already feel jello . . .a good sign :) I am hoping to get down to swim at least daily or every other day. I need to watch the pool and figure out when all the Barbies vacate so I can swim laps in peace :) Probably after the sun isn't "Ideal Tanning" time of day.

P90X later today for sure. I am going to get back into my routine so I am in optimal health!!

Im not a total slacker :)

I am in Idaho vacationing and even though I am technically on vacation I have been getting quite a bit of exercise. I have been riding horses about every other day which believe me is a good workout. On top of that I went to a cool workout class that uses band resistance. It is unique to the gym here in Blackfoot and I got an excellent full body burn! I would love to be close enough to take the class a couple times a week. . .I would get ripped so very quickly!

Well, since I am on vacation, you won't see many posts from me due to me keeping so very, very busy. Hope everyone is happy and healthy~

Plyo!

I have been bad about blogging, but I have been better about working out. I completed Plyometrics and I got all the way through it! I am surprised I could :) My body felt it but I wasn't too sore. My muscles are bouncing back like I thought they would. I'm headed to Idaho on Sunday so my workout will consist of some things like 'horse riding" and Target Training and probably some swimming :) Even though I will be on vacation, I am going to keep up with a workout. Taking P90X with me. . .although the target trainer class is pretty intense! Keep ya posted on how that goes~

Legs & Back (round 2)

Well, I dug deep and found just enough motivation to get back into my routine. . . I chose to do Legs & Back and I didn't get through it very well. The time off from my workout really has taken it's toll on my endurance. My right knee also was giving me some trouble. (I had injured it years ago in a 4-wheeler accident). Apparently it wasn't happy to be back to work haha! I stumbled through the workout the best I could. I have been struggling with energy and headaches lately, so I am hoping that improves.

Lets not forget AB RIPPER! Yes I did ab ripper & that was a little more challenging than it was a few weeks ago, but I got through all of it. I am thinking a week working out should get me back to about where I was. . .my muscles just need a wake up call, they have had a long enough vacation.

I AM BACK!!

Too much time off!

I have taken too much time off. . .although I didn't have much control over that I don't like it much. I have gotten down to the pool the last couple of days and got a little swimming in! Hooray!! However, the reality of it is that I will be most likely starting over with P90X. I got so far into it then took so much time off that I feel it will be most beneficial to just start over. Or at least do a shortened version of the first 6 weeks to get caught up to where I was in week 7. It will all depend on how hard the workouts are for me now. HAHA! So stay tuned for my re-run of P90X.

Next week life back to normal

I'm bummed that I got so far into P90X . . .just over 1/2 way and then got committed to something that has absorbed my life completely. But next week I should be back to life as usual. I will probably try to pick up where I left off. . .but I might just start over. Depends on how hard starting week 7 again is. :) I did get a run in a few days ago. I ran a 10 minute mile. . . so not too bad :) I was surprised at how my legs and calves handled it. I ran almost the entire 10 minutes and the next day my legs weren't too sore. My calves were a little sore, but not debilitating. Whoohoo!!!

Feeling the BURN

Being back on track a little feels good!! Today I did Back & Biceps AND Ab Ripper :) Yes, it was hard. . .yes, it felt good, and yes I rock. LOL Back to the crazy on set schedule on Monday. . .so that may be interesting. If I have to stay in a hotel room all week then I'm hoping I can find the time to do my workout since I won't have to drive so much. . .we'll see.

Plyo today. .

Yep, I had some time today and I did Plyometrics!! . . .and it KICKED my butt big time. I am noticing the last week of few workouts. My endurance is down and my legs were hurting. I am glad I did it though. I am hoping I can fit it in more often even! Tomorrow and Sunday I will get my workouts in as well. . .but starting Monday I am not sure how my schedule will play out. I will just do my best!

Early Mornings & Late Nights

I can't believe how much I am gone now. I usually have to be up and ready to leave by about 8:30am cuz I have over an hour drive. . . . we wrap usually around 10:30 or so later and then I have my hour + drive home. It's a tough schedule. I am exhausted out of pure lack of sleep. I am hoping my body adjusts to the change in my schedule and I can get on track. I feel like I am making excuses. . . I guess life interrupts our goals sometimes and that just means we have to work around the setback. I have a little time this morning cuz I woke up earlier than I expected (a good sign that I am adjusting) so I am going to hit some Ab Ripper this morning, that's about all I have time for I think. Better than nothing.

on hold

well, i am still very busy every day on set....i had an early call time so i was not able to do my workout this morning....hopefully i can get home early enough to stil fit it in.  yesterday i went for a bike ride and that worked my legs pretty good! i couldn't have forseen this obstacle on my work out...but i will do what i can and pick up where i left off.

and ACTION!

I have the opportunity to be on a movie set which I am not sure how long that will last. . . Yesterday I didn't get my workout in due to putting in a 12 hour day! (it's mostly standing around) but hey, it's an awesome opportunity. So I am going to work really hard to fit my workouts in somehow.

This morning I got up early to do my workout. I will record the days I can do that. This will probably push my program out past the 90 days. . . But I'll do my best!

Week 7 Day 1

I took a photo today, but I don't have time to download it tonight. Today I did Chest Back and Triceps. . and Ab Ripper. It was hard. I'm feeling it tonight, but that is a good thing :) I may end up with a lot on my plate so I will really have to work on fitting in my workouts! I can do it. . .I will do the best I can!!!

Yoga interrupted. .

I had just got into Yoga  X yesterday. . when I got a call and needed to do some work for the Casting Office. It took me the entire night to complete. Today normally is a "rest" day for me but due to the circumstances of yesterday. I woke up feeling kinda crummy, not really sick. . .just my muscles are sore and I had a headache. I got much needed extra sleep. Bryan had to take the car to work due to the crazy thunder/rain storm this morning so I didn't have the car to go to church, but like I said I needed to sleep off whatever was making me feel crummy.

Video Blog. . . I tried.

I recorded a little video blog and I tried to upload it to YouTube however, my computer/internet is soooooo slow that it was saying it was going to take 285 minutes to upload my 30 second blog!!! I will try to figure out how to remedy this problem and video blog one of these days.

I did Back and Legs and Ab Ripper tonight. It was a late workout for me, but I just had other things I did at my usual workout time. Luckily for me Bryan worked late and I didn't have to compete for the T.V.

Time for some Chocolate Milk :)

2 tickets to the show!

I am starting to feel the urge to say to people. . ."I have 2 tickets to the gun show" :) Today was back and biceps. I can feel the burn with my weights on most of the workouts but some of them I just need more weight. The chick in the video pretty much uses 12 lbs, so I think I could go to that or just really push some size and go with 15 lbs. I am confident I could use them in at least 4 of the bicep workouts and get along with my 10 lbs for the others. I am going to go hop in the shower to wash off all my sweat from my hard work! THEN I get my chocolate milk~

Leaving The Ground

Today was Plyometrics. . .I have done this workout now SEVERAL times and I think by far it's the hardest but it's also giving me some good results! It's pretty much lunges and squats which are all about getting your feet off the ground. I barely make it through but one nice thing is I can look forward to drinking a glass of chocolate milk as my recovery drink :)

Week 6 Day 1

Well, I must say. . .this week's photo has just given me a TON of motivation! I'm so happy that FINALLY I think I see some real results~ I am in the search for some new weights. I think I will buy some 15 lb dumbells to increase my muscle bulk and results. I feel like the ones I have are good, but I am getting more strength I need to bring it a little more :)

Yoga with a little improvement

I am just having to really struggle through Yoga X. I have not mastered very many moves or built the stamina to complete the 90 minute DVD. However, I give it my best and each time I get a little stronger, a little more flexible and can go a little farther. . .I am hoping to be able to do the whole 90 minutes in the next couple of weeks! One thing I notice is my prograf tremors when I do Yoga. Holding and posing causes a lot of muscles to go crazy with tremors, I fall and I get back into the pose and I try again.

Did my Best and forgot the Rest~

Back and Biceps

Have I mentioned before how much I LOVE sculpted biceps? Not just on men, but I think a nice toned arm on a woman is so beautiful. Well, I am on my way to having just that. . .beautifully sculpted arms. Biceps have been something I have always wanted. I HATED having skinny little CF arms and Skinny little CF legs which pre-transplant is hard to get rid of especially cuz our bodies tend to be wider and thicker than pretty much the rest of our bodies. haha! I think I may finally escape the CF look, thanks to my transplant and a little hard work building and sculpting my new found body weight!!
These are the weights I currently use, however it won't be long before I will need to UP my weights. These are around 8-10 lbs. . .I need a set that goes up to around 25 lbs probably :) I am planning on being able to curl at least that by the time I am done!!
Week 5 Day 3 done. . . Hooray

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

Sore. . .

I am so very sore today :) It was hard to put my workout DVD in today. . .I could have come up with a dozen reasons why I "couldn't" do it today, but I am not about to fizzle out. Once I skip I know It will be that much harder to keep going. So today I sucked it up and I did Plyometrics. My face was soooo red/flushed afterward. I think I was most definitely in my target heart rate zone. haha. Nothing like a good hard workout to get the blood flowing to my face! One day closer to my goal. One day closer to completing P90X!!

Week 5 Day 1

So I have completed my first 3 weeks of solid workouts, my "rest' or 4th week is done and Now it's Week 5 DAY ONE: So yep, you guessed it PHOTO TIME! I decided to add a little flex pic in there just to show off, however, I am not very good at flexing and my I usually just end up pulling a funny face like I am constipated or something. hahaha. I did Chest, Shoulders & Triceps. . .and the workout got tougher than week 1-3. WOW, I am not going to be able to move my arms tomorrow~ YIPPEE!!

Bryan Measured my Biceps for me and flexed they were like 9.5 inches, not too shabby

Kenpo. . . .cuz I have to..

When I said I was going to complete P90X is signed up for all of it. In order to do that I have to force my way through Kenpo X and Yoga X because those two are the ones I DREAD. They're just frustrating and so I have to dig deep and complete them.  BUT I got through it tonight and tomorrow is Stretch I think? I HOPE :)

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Core Synergistic

I am exhausted. . . core synergistic is TOUGH. I am sweating and my core is going to hurt tomorrow (hopefully).  I am now enjoying my recovery drink (chocolate milk).  I didn't think Core Synergistic was going to be so hard. I guess it showed me I shouldn't underestimate it :)

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Week 4 . . . "rest week"

It's not technically a "rest week" but the workout mainly consists of Stretch X, Kenpo X and Yoga along with some Core Synergistic. It's a good week for this because I am crazy busy at the Casting Office every day this week including Saturday. So I have decided to hold off pictures this week and I will start up with photo's week 5 day 1. I will probably barely fit in much of anything including blogging this week. However, I will be blogging about my week every couple of days or all at once in one blog at the end of the week.

I am getting my upper body workout every day or so with some pole fitness :) Gotta keep exercise fun and enjoyable!

Sunday, April 10, 2011

Rest Day

It is my Rest Day of week 3 which marks my last day of week 3 :) I will be posting a picture tomorrow. . .and although the picture may not capture much change, believe me I can definitely see it. My stomach is flatter, firmer and more sculpted!! My legs are stronger and firmer and my arms have significant muscle definition. If you are NOT motivated yet to start a this or another workout program yet, in another 3 weeks YOU WILL :) If I keep improving at this pace I know I will be very happy with my end results and all the hard work, time and commitment I put into this.

End of Week 3

It's officially my last day of WEEK 3!! Tomorrow is my rest day and Monday will be PICTURE day :) I am working my body a little hard now cuz I have two great workouts now!

Today I did Stretch X and next week is a "REST" week, but not really. . . .There is still an exercise regimen each and every day, just not any weights. Kinda gives my muscles a break (I hope)

I think I might DIE

As if these workouts aren't hard enough. . . .I had to do it in my apartment where my AC is apparently NOT WORKING! I turned it on and my apartment actually got 2 degrees warmer. . .needless to say I am very bugged about it but I didn't let it stop me.  I did LEGS and BACK  today and finished off with AB RIPPER. Yeah, I am sweaty and exhausted, at least I know I get to go grab some Chocolate Milk now :) Mmmmmmm

Plyo!

Jumping for joy? Well, not exactly. . .jumping cuz I did Plyometrics which includes TONS of jumping. Getting both feet off the ground. Let's not leave out that it also requires about 100 lunges and squats then adds jumping to those for about an hour!!!! Yeah, it's a tough workout to get through. . . .but I'm one day closer to competing my transformation :)

FINALLY!!!

Finally!!! I got the X Pole I have been wanting for like a year now! I got a great deal on this. It's a Killer Workout. . . .if you have never tried it, you won't believe how sore you are the next day. You can search to see if there is a pole fitness class in your area and take a beginner class. I took one and have been hooked every since. It's a Shoulder and Arm workout that is amazing and FUN at the same time. I got this from a woman here local who was selling it. It is spinning and static and I got it for $150. They retail for around $369 + $40 shipping. Yeah, I'm very happy with the deal I got.

I have to do my P90X workout tonight still. I have been a little distracted and my arms and shoulders already hurt. LOL. I will still fit in my workout. It's Plyometrics tonight. UGH

Week 3 day 1: PICTURE

Yep today was week 3 day 1. I worked shoulders and arms cuz whoops, it was actually chest and back day so Wed. I will flip flop and do chest and back. Oh well. My muscles in my arms are getting bigger and firmer, I am on my way to sexier arms and slowly but surely a sexier backside and a 6 pack :)

Week 3 Day 1 pictures
 FRONT
BACK
I am starting to see some muscle tone and some firmness in my legs and butt. WHOOHOO! My abs/core are getting a little thinner with some definition through my sides. Little by little right?

Have I mentioned I Hate It?

I dread Kenpo X . . . . if you haven't noticed I don't like the Yoga X either, but I think the YOGA I might be able to get used to. I think the kenpo is hard for me because I took years of a Karate form that is quite a bit different than Kenpo and although I realize this is for aerobic purpose only, I just don't care for it. I do it, but I don't have to love it :) I am thinking since I actually take a 'rest day' and don't workout on Sunday I might just do X Stretch on Kenpo day.  I REALLY like the Stretch workout.

Bringing it!!

I am a woman of my word and I gave myself a "free" day yesterday since I literally felt terrible. I knew I would be up to it today. In fact I did dishes, organized my spare room (prepping it for my pole) and put up some pictures that I have not got around to doing since the move. I actually wanted to talk myself out of working out but like I said if I just get as far as putting on my workout clothes, I find my motivation. Today felt great, no it felt Intense and it burned. . . .but it felt great :)  Only a few more days and Monday will be another Photo Post!! Monday will be day one of week three!!

I'm a P90X Machine!!!!

Gonna give my body ONE day off

Today I am just not feeling well. . .I am not sick.  I am just very uncomfortable and achy so instead of pushing my body too hard I am going to listen to it and take today off. It was YOGA day, so I am not heartbroken and tomorrow I will pick back up with LEGS & BACK and AB RIPPER.  I should be up to working out by tomorrow afternoon :)

2 Tylenol, a HOT bath and some sleep should fix me right up!!

Week 2 Day 3

SHOULDERS & ARMS
AB RIPPER!!

Today I had to dig deep down for motivation! It wasn't until about 4pm that I finally got off my butt and put in my DVD's. Ya know what I discovered? Once I put my workout clothes on I get a boost of motivation and my workout gets done! I did arms and shoulders which is WOW very hard! Then added the ab ripper (my favorite) however it's so difficult and the more I do it, the better my form and endurance is getting :) I am exhausted an now I am going to raid my fridge!

Plyometrics!

The plyometric workout was harder the second time around. I guess it's because my muscles are sore and so this 2nd time around was tough! My legs were not complaining. . . .they were SCREAMING at me. Well, I want sexy legs and plyometrics will do the job! I was very tempted to add Ab Ripper to my workout but I am being obedient and following the program schedule.

Week 2 Day ONE- PICTURE

HERE IS WEEK 2 DAY 1 PHOTOS!
Well, not much change as you can see. . .but I feel better and I can actually see/feel like my abs/core getting a little firmer and slightly more defined. I think I will post on Day One of each new weekly workout. The pics won't show 'dramatic' changes but it will help keep me working for that next "week __ day One" photo op.

I did Chest and Back. Since I had bands this week it KILLED!! All together I added up all the push ups and it came out to 107 push-ups and just counting the pull-up/band exercises it came to 82!! I would have to say I am pretty proud of myself :)

X Stretch. . . .LOVE IT!

I really liked the X Stretch workout. I am relatively flexible so most of the stretches were just outside of my comfort level. I am able to reach past my toes & touch the ground with most of the moves and when stretching single hamstring/legs I can lay almost flat on my leg and touch my face to my knee!!!. My Back is my 'least flexible' so some of those were pushing more on the 'slightly painful' rather 'just outside my comfort'. I am pumped to see how much my flexibility improves by the end of the 90 days. I just might surprise myself!

My back has always been tight my entire life which is probably from so many years of having a rounded, barreled chest/back. It feels good to have my back much straighter and flat, but now comes the work to stretch my back muscles. It hurts while I am stretching and aches afterward, but little by little I am sure I will see improvement because I have LOTS of room for improvement!

Rest Day

Today: Sunday is my rest day, however I am going to fit in Stretch X because my Saturday Night was a mess. I had a bit of a prednisone/prograf roller coaster ride night :) I notice it comes and goes. I will have weeks and do very well, and then BAM one really tough day. I am not making excuses, I am pushing my rest day to tomorrow. Since I am actually on about 10th or 11th day I think, but to get my workout schedule on track I will be officially starting week 2 day 1 on Monday.

It's late. .or I guess early Sunday morning and perhaps I should start to try to relax and sleep. Klonopin is helping :)

Friday, March 25, 2011

I didn't do Stretch X today. . .

I decided against doing stretch X today. . .I figured I needed to push myself harder since yesterday I did Ab Ripper and that was it. I just felt like a bit of a slacker if I only did stretch today. So as I reviewed next week's schedule I figured I could slip in a Legs and Back workout since tomorrow I am doing stretch X and resting Sunday~ Just thought I would update because I am feeling good that I finished legs and back  which makes it my 2nd time doing it. Monday I will have my workout on track and shouldn't have to shift my workout like this every week :)

Day 7 . . . Should be my rest day

Yesteday "Day 7" should have been my rest day, but I am having to move the workout around a little for a couple days so I can get on the week/day schedule that I want. . .which is to set it up so Sunday is my rest day not Thursday :) SO I manipulated and switched out a few workouts. I did Ab Ripper yesterday and went bowling last night (which I a sore from doing). It has been years, since before my lung transplant that I have gone bowling. My shoulder and back are feeling it. I bowled with a 10 lb ball most the night :)

My Abs are looking a "little" tighter and I can see slight improvement. I am being really obedient and not doing ab ripper every day, which is what I would like to do since it's one of my main focus areas. Every other day though no matter what! Today I will just do stretch X and Saturday I will do Ab Ribber and probably legs/Back. . .we'll see. Then Sunday REST DAY with a fresh start Monday on track so I don't have to change the workout around at all!

Why am I doing this??

Maybe someone who reads this blog may ask themselves "why is Jamie doing this?". . . sometimes I ask myself that. Why do I exercise?? My number one reason I push myself to workout and stay fit is because I understand the physical and medical benefits from it. Also I get a lot mental and emotional benefits as well. I feel better about myself when I can look into the mirror and know I put in the work to look the way I do. I don't ever want to feel like I have "settled" and I am pretty sure that would create some unhappiness for me. I KNOW what I can change about myself. I KNOW that there is always one thing I have control over even if it is the only thing I have control over and that is my level of fitness. When I was just months/weeks from transplant and I only had around 11% lung function, I would get out and try to get some kind of exercise. I walked on the treadmill at the gym and rode my horse with my portable oxygen slung across my back.

Now that I am post transplant I believe it is even more important than ever. I have the gift of my donor's lungs inside my body and I believe it is my responsibility to keep those lungs as active and healthy as I possibly can. I wouldn't be doing my new lungs justice if I didn't do all I can do to accomplish peak performance out of them.  *This is my opinion* I know of people who are over weight, inactive, and unhappy with the size, shape, or weigth they are right now, however, they can have control over all those. Exercise, in whatever form you enjoy, will make you feel better, look better and improve your self esteem. So I am doing what I do because I have experienced first hand all those benefits.

Living with CF can create physical abnormality's and although others may have never noticed them. . .I did. I tried to focus on the things I COULD change. I couldn't change my clubbed fingers, or my barrel (rounded) chest/back. I couldn't change those things, but I could change my weight, my muscle tone, my ability to keep up with those around me who had 100% lung capacity. I could do all those things because I put in the hard work. If you think it's TOO HARD. . . .it was harder for me & I did it . . .I am still doing it!

Day 6- Kenpo X

Did it, don't care for it cuz I actually took karate for years and this "kenpo/karate" form sucks. . so I altered the way I did some of the punches, blocks, and kicks :) I was pretty sweaty afterward though!!

Day 5

Legs and Back. . .well, for me just mostly Legs. I keep forgetting to go to the store and buy a set of bands. Bands can be substituted for the pull up bar. I hope to eventually maybe get a pull up bar, but for now I need bands. However, the Legs part of the workout is KILLER! I can't even imagine how many variations of lunges I did. Also did the wall squat, I remember that from gym class in school. . .it's been THAT long ago since I did those. I am 100% sure I may not be able to walk tomorrow. No Pain, No Gain! I keep looking in the mirror hoping to see some improvement, maybe not now. . but I WILL :)

No P90X today. . .

I had a cool opportunity today that I couldn't pass up and it took my entire day. So I didn't get P90X today. Tomorrow will be completed FOR SURE. Ugh, I don't like that I missed it, I can't really talk about what I did today, but it was a SUPER cool thing! Worth missing P90X for :)

Rest Day

I don't like to workout or do other stuff along those lines on Sunday since it's a 'day of rest' and should be used for spiritual and charitable work.  Don't get me wrong I am not perfect, but I really try to keep the sabbath day holy. So no workout today, it will throw off my schedule a little but not too bad. I can rearrange it to keep on track :)

Tomorrow Day 5 . . .I may be working out late tomorrow. . . but I WILL fit it in!!

Day 4. . Yoga X

Today was Yoga X or lets say "torture" not just physically. I have never really done much Yoga, and I realized why today. . . .cuz I find it slow, monotonous and frankly I am not sure I have the patience for it. I got through about 45 minutes of the hour+ workout. . . . it could be partly due to my caffeine withdrawal. I have not drank a Diet Dew for about 2 days now. My head is pounding and my fuse is short. I can feel I am on edge. I was going to try to cut soda/caffeine while doing the P90X to get maximum results. I'm just not sure if I 100% committed to doing both at the same time :) Diet Mnt Dew will be my reward for kicking butt on my workout. Don't get me wrong I don't drink a TON of soda. For the most part I drink about one can of Diet Dew a day.

So day 4 down. . . .didn't go all that well, but I did all I could take (for today).

P90X day 3

Today I did day 3. . .I was still pretty sore from day one day two ;) Day 3 was shoulders and arms. My arms and shoulders were still sore from doing shoulders and back. Plyometrics kicked my butt, literally. The back of my thighs and my butt are killing me but it's such a good feeling! I can't wait to see the results. The pain sucks, but it is a sign the workout is working!

Oh and today I did AB RIPPER! whoohoo it felt good and my abs only stayed super sore for about one full day. I expect my arms/shoulders to be sore however my abs seem to recover pretty quickly. So that's good.

So tomorrow is Yoga X . . .that might be interesting.

P90X Day 1

Yesterday was my 'Day 1' of the workout program p90x. I am going to take off from running for a while since p90x doesn't really incorporate running. It includes a good cardio workout along with the muscle and strength training.

So I started with day 1 workout on March 16, 2011 which was 'shoulders and chest'. I added 'ab ripper' too since my abs are one my focus areas. I can do 'ab ripper' every other day! So here is my evaluation of the workout. Super hard! I don't have bands or a pull up bar yet, so that part of the workout I had to skip (for now).  I am not even sure how many push ups I did. I will be making a chart/sheet to track my workout more accurately in a day or so. The Ab Ripper was a killer ab workout! I have always had a difficult time finding ab workouts that make me very sore (due to my CF abs which I still seem to have a little). My lower abs are extremely sore which I LOVE!  The 'recommended' times for pictures to compare results are about every 30 days. I may post pics more frequent than that, so here is Day ONE pictures. :) bleh. I see lots of room for improvement!

Day ONE back

Day TWO:

Thursday March 17, 2011 I did day 2 workout which was plyometrics. It is all jumping and lunges. It was so very, very hard. in fact I barely made it through and didn't quite finish the whole thing before my legs buckled under the muscle fatigue. Plyometrics by far kicked my trash! I am looking forward to the day I am strong enough to complete that and keep up with the instructor :) So that's my review/response to day 2.

I can't raise my arms above my head, my chest aches,  it hurts to sit up or cough or laugh, and my triceps are very tender. So my final thoughts on my first 2 days are. . .so far it seems to be working :)

Nature walk

My exercise today was with my grandparents (they are in Oklahoma visiting). We have a lake nearby which is a National Forsest/camp area. It was a nice day, a little windy but around 55 degrees. They wanted to go for a hike or a trail walk so we drove to the Lake. We found some really nice trails that are surrounded by lots of trees and nature. We saw over 15 deer and they were actually very close to us. We walked over 3 miles. . . probably close to 4 miles. It was perfect weather and I got a good easy going exercise. Did I mention my Grandparents are in their 70's and 80's. . . . they are amazing! I barely keep up with them, not even kidding. I hope I am doing as awesome as they are when I am that age ;)

Week 3 of C25K

I have been running with the couch to 5K program/schedule. . .I like it. It builds endurance up slowly and steady to prepare your body/legs/cardio to run 30 minutes continuously. I am still pretty far from that, but I can run longer and more comfortably now. I am alternating runs with stretching and weights. Soon I will be adding the P90X workout along with my runs. I am super excited and kinda in fear of that idea :) I really want to do some body/muscle sculpting. . .bikini season is coming up pretty fast. lol.  Plus I just have to keep thinking "6 pack abs" it is my 2011 resolution!!

I ran 20 minutes today and did about 1.5 miles. It's not about speed, it's about building endurance :)

Thighs were screaming at me

My thighs are yelling at me so badly today :O Yep, they aren't very happy with how hard I have been making them work with running and lunges and leg lifts. . .but dangit, I want sleek sexy legs. I also want to be conditioned with enough endurance to run at least a 5K

I did the C25K week 2 workout today.  Well, sorta. I ran 2 minutes then walked 2 minutes & repeated that for 20 minutes. I could have ran 3 minutes and then walked about 1 minute. . .but my thighs are so sore I didn't want to push them too hard yet :) I can feel my endurance building up and I can SEE some muscle definition which is so encouraging! I don't really want to lose weight, I just want muscle tone and strength but running is soooo good for these lungs of mine.

30 minutes!

I woke up early today around 9am and was down at the gym by 10am. . yes, you read that right! It was an earlier day for me than usual but it felt good! I ran 30 minutes. I did 2 minute run then 1 minute walk repeated that for 30 minutes with a light warm up and a cool down. I am really starting to build up my endurance. I am trying to find a race in the next couple months. I feel a 5K would be a good start then build up to a 10K then hopefully a 1/2 marathon or a sprint triathlon :) One step at a time. . .so for now, shooting for a 5K-10K.

Pain is Good!

I am actually still pretty sore from my workout on saturday. . .but in such a good way. I feel good even though most of my muscles in my body hurt :) I posted on my "Jamiebug" blog but I will post here too. I think I am going to go to school and shoot for a Health and Fitness Science degree!! I think it will be a good fit. . .a lot of work, but worth it. I will benefit and I could help others and inspire them to be healthier and fit.

Today I hit the gym and did 20 minutes on the elyptical  machine, a good 6 minute cool down walk on the treadmill, some leg presses along with some bench presses. . . so a good solid workout. It's awesome having a friend to workout with, it's WAAAAY more fun.  University of Oklahoma Health and Fitness program is having a 10K race in March. . .I am debating whether to try to do it, I probably will even if I have to walk most of it. Why not right? I don't have anything to prove.

major workout day

Today my friend Shelli and I drove into Oklahoma City to check out a Pole Fitness class. It was different than what I was used to in Phoenix at "Pink Fitness". This class was definately more about focusing on stretching and building the "right" muscles to be able to do Pole Fitness. I learned something new though. I learned how to climb the pole and sit. I have the bruises to prove it :) Coumidin tends to make me bruise easily. My shoulders and arms are feeling it already! We have decided to take their 'Pole Kitten' class next time which will focus on more spins and moves. I am probably a level 2 or close to that but I will take their 'beginning' level class to see how well I do. This is such an amazing full body workout and also a HUGE self image booster. It's empowering and sensual. What woman doesn't want to feel like that :)

I didn't just go to class. . .Shelli wanted to also hit the gym and get a good lower body workout too. So we did that. I did a 25 minute treadmill run/walk. I am doing good with the 'couch to 5K' schedule. I am building endurance a little bit at a time. Slow and steady. I may be pretty sore for a couple days, but I enjoy all the great ways to really keeping my workout interesting, fun, and never boring :)

Well my arms are just about too sore to keep typing. . just kidding. . but they are sore! Awwwww, love the pain of muscle and strength building in my body!!!!

Treadmill-ing Time!

It was pretty nice outside but I didn't get out for my run till later. . I had kinda a bad day yesterday you can read about it HERE. Anyways despite my little setback I still mustered up the energy to hit the gym and ran on the treadmill. I am a little sore from my previous run, so I did more walking than running but still did over a mile. (20 minutes on treadmill).  I was at the the casting office all afternoon and figured it would be a good day to take as my "resting day".  I will definitely fit a workout/run in tomorrow and on Saturday I am going to take a pole aerobics class with my friend. The only classes we found were in Oklahoma City which is about 30 minutes away, so not too bad. I am in for some major sore shoulders, back, biceps and triceps!!!! My legs might not be too sore cuz I have been working them pretty good lately.

I am not a slacker

I haven't posted here for a week. . .but that doesn't mean I was slacking off :) Nope, I have actually put in a good workout almost every day. Since I posted about my blistered feet, I have gone for another run on the treadmill and did 20 minutes. I am going to really push to be ready to run a 5K in the spring. . .April/May-ish. I haven't found one to register yet. There is several in Oklahoma City, but I would like to find one closer to Norman. Oklahoma City is about 30-45 minutes away, so it's do-able.

I have been really getting into utilizing my Wii Fit and as I get used to some of the workouts I find myself fitting in a good 30 minute workout daily. I am mostly working towards muscle tone and aerobic to keep my lungs in great shape! Oh, and working towards tight, flat abs :)

Blisters!

Okay so Yesterday I was busy shopping and buying things to make Bryan a special Valentines dinner and didn't get a run in. However, today was even more beautiful and I DID make it out to run. I wore my new vibrams. . .I love the way it feels to run in them. My legs don't hurt much when I run but my feet were killing me!! Apparently my shoes need to be broke in a LOT more. I am looking into buying socks that are made to be worn with vibrams, I think that would cure it at least until I can tolerate them barefoot. Anyone have any tips on how to avoid getting blisters? lol

Baby it's warm outside!

I definitely think it's beautiful outside enough to do a run outside!! I haven't been out much at all since I have had a lingering cold, but today was the day I was going to get started again. My cough is completely gone but my body and muscles are feeling the "lack of moving around". I probably won't be able to run too far or too long, but I have to start somewhere. This will be the first time I will be running with my Christmas Vibrams :) It's about time I put some mileage on them!

Gotta Motivate

So. . .I am actually feeling pretty ashamed. My last post here was 4 weeks ago, I can't believe that because that means it's been over 4 weeks since I "worked out" last. I guess I have got my Wii fitness stamps several times in the last couple weeks. I am just starting to feel like this cold I have been down with is starting to finally come to an end.  No more coughing up crummy looking junk and my head is not nearly as stuffy! I should be back on the treadmill by first of next week.  I'm just going to take a second to remind myself of a couple goals/new years resolutions that I made to myself. . . .

1- 6 pack abs!
2- Firm Butt
3- Shapely Legs
4- overall muscle tone
5- No more muffin top (even it is a little one)
6- 2012 Transplant Games (that will take me this year and next year to prep for it)

I just really need to get motivated again. I can feel my physical endurance slipping, and my couch potato figure needs to end~ Only a couple months until bikini season :) So come Monday I am done resting, my body better be ready to kick it into high gear.

Vibram Treksport

So I got my new Vibrams and I was smart and gave them a day of wear before I went outside and did much with them. Something was wrong with the right shoe. The left shoe fit perfectly, but the right one pinched my pinky toe so much it was literally unbearable. I took them back and traded them for an exact pair/size/style/color. I walked around the store in them for about 15 minutes to see if they hurt my foot too.  Luckily they didn't so the store switched them out. I wore them around the apartment all day yesterday to make sure they weren't going to hurt and they never did. So tomorrow will be the first day I try them out on the treadmill :) If it warms back up here than I will probably head out for some nice road/trail running. There is a lot more of that here than where we lived in Phoenix!

New Vibrams!

So I used some Christmas Gift and bought myself a new pair of Vibram Five Fingers becuase I love my other ones so much. I seriously have worn them 80% of the time in the last year I have had them :) I think I have only bought one other pair of shoes I loved his much and those were my London Underground chunky leather sandals back in High School! :)

Okay so these new vibrams are set up more for running/cross training and trail running! Which I plan on doing more of here in Norman. I also have a rumor for anyone who follows this blog. . .which isn't very many people haha.

Transplant Games 2012. . . . . . .I haven't heard anything 'official' and this is a rumor, but from a pretty reliable source. . . . . .one word. . . . . .Pittsburgh!!! I am seriously really hoping this ends up being true becuase of course I got my lungs there and I know the area, so it would be easy for me get there and get some of my family to go and support me!!!! hooray! I will post the 'official' transplant location when it's announced.

Here's to training for the 2012 games in my new Vibrams!!!!
